Under Contract Dev Blog 03


Whew, lad, it's been a while since we updated this blog. Not to say we have not been busy, just that, well, I forgot to keep everyone updated on the game's development. My bad. Needless to say, we have been super super busy getting things together for a MASSIVE patch to the game, whenever we thought we were close we updated something that required a lot of attention elsewhere before we could make a public build.

Soooo yeah, here is the update!

Localization and Languages

This is a massive upgrade to the base game of Under Contract. We are now supporting 10 total languages across the entire game! It was not easy to get it together, and we will likely be running into some problems with the languages (since we only speak English), so if you find anything in your playthroughs that seem wrong please let us know!


The Languages that are now supported are:

  • English
  • Chinese (traditional/simplified) 
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Italian
  • German
  • French

To add this we had to rework our font system along with finding all the supported font types we needed to make the game work well. Then all the resizing and font placement. Not to mention remaking boxes and such to make everything fit.

Companion System

Another massive reworking of our base game mechanics is the Companion System. Simply put any rescued coworkers (and others) will now be available to be Richard’s companion during his nighttime adventures in the Dreamscape. Eventually, this will be expanded with EXP growth for more special abilities and a dating system to further flesh out the characters and give unlockable scenes.


Speaking about special abilities each character will have three possible powers to use in the game, we have completely removed the “ray gun” from the game and made all mana gems the ability gems instead. Combining these activates whatever power you’ve selected for each character.


Narrative Overhaul and Sexy Introduction

Feedback is important to us, and one of the biggest piece of feedback we got was related to how much sex content is available in the game, along with how far you need to go to unlock and or see that content. 

To remedy this we have the following upgrades:

  • All minion battles now have an animated with audio effects scene.
  • We now have real-world “reality” scenes where characters are tormented in the office by their Demon bosses, which are animated with audio effects.
  • A new game introduction has Richard meeting a particular character a little earlier for a wet dream sequence which is animated with audio effects.


In the future we will add the following: Characters will be able to date each other starting in Chapter 2, which unlocks more sex scenes as well.

An email system will be added to the game allowing for more world-building and character selfies to be awarded as unlocks.

We also have introduced a new variety of cosmetics characters that can be found throughout the game, we are also considering making these unlockable for character customization.


This can also be seen in our world-building systems, with the chibi characters on the overworld and in your party being animated and going about their business more frequently.


Before we launch the next build there are other things we want to add still. Here is a quick-fire list to get you all up to speed.

  • Difficulty selection: Easy, Normal, Hard.
  • Voiced characters: Auditions are open right now for the roles, we hope to find our actors soon!
  • Companion EXP system for unlocking new abilities.
  • The conclusion to Department 1.
  • A new demo with far more exploration options to make demo replays more interesting.
